Planning Generator Care and Monitoring After Installation

A standby generator needs ongoing care even when outages are uncommon. Its manual sets time- and running-hour requirements, and an extended outage may bring service forward. Monitoring can help communicate status, but it does not replace maintenance or establish a service contract.

01 / Maintenance & Monitoring

Arrange care before the installation is complete.

Mister Safety installs standby systems but does not currently offer generator maintenance. Plan qualified aftercare separately, and confirm the correct contact for manufacturer equipment service.

Keep the generator model/serial information, manuals, commissioning records, warranty documents and service history together. That makes future care and claims easier to route.

The defined work to put your system in service.

Maintenance

Scheduled care based on time, run hours and conditions.

Equipment service

02 / Maintenance & Monitoring

Long Florida outages can bring service forward.

The inspected 10–28 kW owner manual includes a 25-hour initial oil/filter service and separate annual, two-year/200-hour and four-year/400-hour tasks. Match the schedule to the actual model and manual.

A footnote shortens oil/filter service to one year or 100 hours for continuous operation above 85°F, or the stated cold conditions. A general “two years between service” headline would miss an important extended-outage condition. Arrange a qualified provider’s plan for prolonged running rather than assuming automatic operation needs no attention.

03 / Maintenance & Monitoring

Monitoring helps you see status. It is not a service contract.

Mobile Link features depend on the generator hardware, connectivity and selected plan. Newer cellular product pages qualify certain real-time updates and alerts with premium-subscription requirements.

Confirm current plan features, costs and any included period for the selected equipment. Cellular connectivity and free app access should not be translated into free access to every feature.

04 / Maintenance & Monitoring

Know when to seek help safely.

Do not remove covers, touch wiring or perform live tests to investigate a problem. Information observed from a safe location and model records can help a qualified provider; exterior photos do not establish safety.

CPSC recommends CO alarms on every level and outside sleeping areas. If carbon-monoxide poisoning is suspected, get outside to fresh air and call 911. CPSC’s 20-foot portable-generator guidance is not a universal placement rule for permanent standby models.

05 / Maintenance & Monitoring

Check the exact product before applying a notice.

Manufacturer inspection and recall notices apply to specified equipment populations. Generac’s historic plenum-inspection program concerns certain air-cooled generators above 13 kW manufactured from 2008 through 2015; it should not be applied to all new models.

Use the actual model and manufacture information with the current manufacturer notice. This guide does not diagnose an individual generator or promise that an app alert triggers a technician visit.

Mister Safety does not currently offer generator maintenance. Arrange qualified aftercare separately.

Is Mobile Link completely free?

Confirm the selected hardware and plan; some features require paid service.
