A new faceplate or device does not prove a circuit is safe. The appropriate evaluation considers the affected location, supporting installation and whether the concern extends farther. Access and the authorized scope determine what can be established.

A grounding-style face does not create a missing equipment-grounding path. GFCI protection provides a different protective function. Older solid-aluminum branch wiring needs a compatible, defined remediation approach; ordinary device replacement is not a substitute for that broader evaluation.
Outdoor and damp or wet locations need equipment and covers appropriate to the exposure. TR, WR and GFCI describe different features. Flood-damaged equipment is a separate concern: being dry does not establish suitability for reuse.
We confirm the service address, responsible building department and project scope. Do not assume a small electrical project is permit-exempt. Tampa’s published list identifies the 2023 Florida Building Code and 2020 NEC; the applicable requirements must be checked for the actual project.

The outlet or switch you see is one part of the installation. Its contacts, connections, supporting box and circuit each do a different job. A fresh faceplate changes the appearance; it does not tell you what is happening behind it.
A loose plug can point to worn contacts that no longer hold it well. An outlet that moves in the wall can involve its mounting or box instead. You do not have to move it, try other plugs or remove a cover to explain the concern. Tell us what you have already noticed.
Replacing devices together is often called re-device work. Rewiring means changing an agreed part of the cable or circuit system. A project can include both, but the proposal should say which locations, corrections and limitations are included.
Connection names can be confusing. A wire entering the back might be held by a specified spring contact, a screw-operated clamp or a lever-operated terminal. The actual model and condition matter. A label alone cannot prove that the installation is good or bad.
An estimate prices a defined job. When the cause of a problem is unknown, finding it is diagnostic work. We explain the appropriate visit and any charges before paid work begins.
Age alone does not settle the question. Condition, use, compatibility and the supporting installation guide the recommendation.
