Plan around the parking space
Choose the mounting approach after confirming where the RV can park and how the shore cord will reach it. A wall outlet may suit a nearby position; a post-mounted assembly or pedestal can place the connection closer to a remote space.

Settle the lawful parking position before planning the connection. Consider how the vehicle enters and leaves, shore-cord reach and everyday access around it. A convenient box location is not useful if the cord crosses a walkway, gets pinched or sits in the vehicle’s path.

Evaluate the receptacle, enclosure, cover, support and wiring method together, including the cord-connected condition. A roof or carport does not automatically make a location dry. A weather-resistant device alone is not a waterproof installation.
Placement should account for wind-driven rain, sprinkler spray, drainage, corrosion where relevant, and damage from vehicles or lawn equipment. A generic rain enclosure is not flood protection. Applicable floodplain requirements need project-specific review.
Combination equipment can offer NEMA 14-50, TT-30 and an ordinary convenience receptacle. Those choices do not establish the feeder capacity or how much load can run at once.
Check the exact assembly. Eaton’s CHU1N9N4NS catalog identifies a GFCI center receptacle and non-ground-fault breakers. The center receptacle’s protection does not establish GFCI protection of the larger RV outlets. The complete protective arrangement must match the actual project.
A remote position can add excavation, private-utility locating, hardscape crossings and restoration. Compare the complete project with the wall-side option before choosing hardware.
Agree on access and responsibilities in the written scope. Do not assume a support, concrete base, boring or lawn repair comes with the price of a power box.
The box is where the connection lives. The post or pedestal holds it in position. Neither determines by itself what the home’s supply can support.
Place the connection where the RV is allowed to park and where using the cord is practical. Then plan the power route and outdoor protection. Moving the parking space after the design is agreed can change the work, so settle that detail early.
Its mounting style does not determine capacity. The evaluated supply, equipment and circuit or feeder design do.
Confirm lawful parking, property boundaries and right-of-way restrictions first. A convenient cord location does not create parking permission.
