GE Electrical Panels and ABB ReliaHome

ABB’s current ReliaHome residential range follows its acquisition of GE Industrial Solutions. Homeowners may still encounter GE labels and older PowerMark family names. That branding history helps identify equipment; it does not automatically make every older GE panel obsolete or authorize any replacement part.

Why homeowners see both GE and ABB.

ABB’s ReliaHome residential range follows its 2018 acquisition of GE Industrial Solutions. Homes may still have GE-branded equipment or earlier PowerMark names. The transition explains product history; it does not establish that every GE panel is obsolete, recalled or incompatible with all current parts.

For existing equipment, start with the exact family and model. For a new project, ask whether the proposal specifies current ReliaHome equipment or another documented product, rather than treating all GE/ABB labels as identical.

ReliaHome families have different jobs.

Main panels, smaller panels and meter equipment.

A small T-Series panel can be appropriate for a defined distribution need. It is not a like-for-like quality tier against a full-size main panel. P/P+ and the broader residential catalog cover other sizes and configurations.

ABB’s residential range also includes meter, generator, spa/pool and riser equipment. The exact enclosure, service arrangement and utility acceptance determine suitability. A product appearing in a catalog is not a promise of stock at a particular Florida branch.

PowerMark migration is model-specific.

ABB provides a transition from earlier PowerMark families to ReliaHome. A current product replacing a catalog family does not automatically authorize putting its interior or breakers into an existing enclosure. Have the electrician use the applicable manufacturer cross-reference and labeling.

The important condition questions remain the same: is the assembly sound, is its environment suitable, is the protection correct, and does the service or feeder support the proposed loads?

Conventional ReliaHome and the Smart Panel companion.

The ReliaHome Smart Panel is a separate companion-control system for a suitable conventional panel. It can control selected circuits; it does not repair deteriorated equipment or function as a battery by itself. Confirm the exact hardware, software and backup integration.

Published P-Series coverage is two years and P-Series+ coverage ten years on the reviewed manufacturer page. Obtain complete terms for the selected model, and distinguish equipment coverage from Mister Safety’s installation warranty. Do not extend one family’s warranty to every ReliaHome product.
