An outdoor rating describes one part of the system.

A suitable enclosure matters, but it does not approve the cable route, receptacle, mounting, connections or the rest of the installation. Outdoor-rated does not mean floodproof or suitable for submersion. A receptacle used in a wet location needs the applicable protection and enclosure arrangement too.

The inspected models have different enclosure specifications. Confirm the exact unit and current instructions instead of treating every home charger as interchangeable outdoors.

Allow slack and routine parking variation. Do not stretch the lead or use an extension as the installation plan.

Protect walking routes

Choose cable storage and a mounting location that keep everyday access clear.

Keep the cable out of pinch points

Avoid a route under a closing garage door or where tires can crush the cable.

Consider Florida exposure

Direct sun, hot surfaces, driven rain, water paths and physical impact influence equipment placement and the scope.

Exterior walls and pedestals can have different work scopes.

A garage wall near an appropriate supply can be a different project from a driveway pedestal with a long route. Trenching, wall penetrations, pavement restoration, structural mounting and property access may require additional work or trades.

Confirm the local permitting and inspection process for the actual address. An association’s permission does not replace an electrical permit, and a statewide rule does not create a single permit price or completion time.

Damage, unusual heat or water exposure needs assessment.

Stop using affected equipment if it is damaged, a plug is unusually hot or discolored, or the installation has been exposed to water in a way that may be unsafe. Do not touch wet or damaged equipment, remove covers or repeatedly reset protection to keep charging. Arrange professional assessment.
