Home Flex installation starts with the exact connector and power-supply version you own or intend to buy. Review that model's installation requirements, parking reach and commissioning conditions before deciding whether to retain a receptacle or plan a hardwired connection.

Home Flex is available with different vehicle connections and supply configurations. Check the full model and package rather than buying from the product-family name alone. A matching plug shape does not establish that an existing receptacle, circuit or panel is suitable for sustained EV charging.

Confirm the installer requirement before purchase.
ChargePoint’s May 2026 installation guide includes a certified-installer condition in its warranty language. Its broader installation FAQ says a licensed electrician can install the equipment. These statements should be clarified with ChargePoint for your exact product and warranty.

A home app does not make a shared circuit.
Home Flex offers connected home-charging controls, but ChargePoint expressly requires a dedicated circuit for each station. Do not plan two Home Flex units on one circuit simply because both appear in an app.
For two vehicles, first compare the daily energy required and when each car needs to leave. One charging point used sequentially may fit some routines; two independent installations require assessment of their combined demand.
Hardwire, receptacle and required protection.
Plug-in configurations have lower limits than the product’s highest hardwired setting. Built-in protection does not erase required receptacle GFCI protection. If documents seem to conflict, the installer must resolve the exact equipment instructions and locally applicable requirements; bypassing required protection is not an answer.
An existing charger that repeatedly trips needs diagnosis. Bring the symptoms and visible model information; do not repeatedly reset it or open the equipment to investigate.

Prepare for everyday charging.
Consider cable reach from your normal parking spot, outdoor exposure, Wi-Fi at the location and who will manage the account. Confirm the installed current limit and complete commissioning before treating the job as finished. Include any receptacle replacement, mounting changes, permits and warranty qualification in the written scope.

Can the plug-in version deliver 48 A or 50 A?
Not under the inspected Home Flex FAQ. Its plug-in arrangements use 32 A or 40 A settings; other settings require a suitable hardwired installation.
Can two Home Flex units share one circuit?
No. ChargePoint states that each station requires its own dedicated circuit.
Will any licensed installation qualify for the equipment warranty?
Confirm the current warranty with ChargePoint. The May 2026 guide includes installer-certification wording that differs from the broader FAQ.
