Electrical planning for ranges, cooktops and induction
Electric cooking equipment does not share one universal circuit requirement. A freestanding range and a built-in cooktop can differ in supply rating, neutral requirements, connection method and installation access.

A range is not the same electrical project as a cooktop
Use the exact model and suffix to find the applicable installation instructions. Similar cooking surfaces, widths or brand names do not establish the same electrical supply.

Why “three wires” can describe different arrangements
Some 240-volt cooktops use two ungrounded supply conductors and an equipment-grounding conductor, without a neutral. That is different from a legacy neutral-bonded, three-wire dryer or range arrangement. Counting wires without identifying their function can be misleading.
For a neutral-using range, a qualifying existing three-wire installation may be considered only after its supply, conductor and grounding conditions are checked. A new circuit requires separate neutral and equipment grounding. A relocation or circuit alteration may change the applicable requirements. This is a professional evaluation, not a cord-conversion task.

Changing from gas to electric cooking
Gas-to-electric cooking can introduce a new electrical load and a different connection location. Review capacity, route and the chosen appliance before assuming the existing kitchen receptacle will serve it. Gas capping, cabinetry, ventilation and appliance placement need separate coordination.

For a project under Pasco County, the county publishes separate electrical, gas and alteration categories; the electrical and gas scopes should be coordinated rather than treated as a delivery-only change.

Moving the connection and coordinating the kitchen
A connection that sits behind the old appliance may not fit the new cabinet or clearance requirements. Confirm the manufacturer’s location requirements and actual connection reach; do not finalize the junction or receptacle location from an approximate sales-sheet dimension.
When a kitchen relocation falls within City of Orlando jurisdiction, required application, review, inspections and close-out are distinct from the appliance delivery appointment. Plan that sequence with the project team without treating published permit processing information as a guaranteed installation date.

An electric range is a complete cooking appliance; a cooktop is one component of the kitchen. Their electrical needs can be different even when both use induction. The correct model documents settle the starting requirements.
A gas-to-electric change means planning the added electrical demand and the work of other trades. Moving the appliance can also move the connection and affect what existing wiring can be reused. Choose the model early, then coordinate the electrical work with cabinets, gas work and delivery.

Can the old range circuit power a new induction cooktop?
Possibly, but its voltage, rating, conductors, grounding and connection method must suit the exact cooktop. Existing location and condition also matter.
Do all induction cooktops need the same breaker?
No. The cited Bosch manual lists different requirements for different models. Use the exact model’s instructions and assessed installation.
Does an electrical estimate include gas disconnection or cabinet work?
Only work specifically included in the agreed scope is covered. Gas, cabinet, ventilation and mechanical appliance work require separate coordination.
